The Nature Center is located just East of downtown Asheville, NC on the side of a hill and very wooded unlike many zoos we have visited that are in flat, wide open areas. The awesome part is how kid friendly the park is by providing activity and play centers spread throughout the park. Some of the animals in the park include River Otters, Birds of Prey, Beautiful Wolves, Foxes, Cougars, and many many more.
The first key exhibit after entering the park is a great habitat for my favorite animal, a pair of river otters.
We enjoyed this park so much we visited it multiple times in our short stay in the Asheville, NC area.
There are many hands on areas to explore animals as well as opportunities to meet real turtles, birds and other animals with the super friendly staff.
The habitats are as natural as any we have seen with views into most habitats from below and above as the paths gently wind back and forth up the hillside.
Lots of small encounters for the little ones to discover spaces just their size.
Here you can see an owl that the girls got to meet and learn about. The petting zoo is also very nice and includes some friendly sheep, goats and donkeys.
This is one of the most entertaining places we have visited with small children. They will have fun throughout the park.
The girls loved all the varying activity and play centers located throughout the park.
If anything makes this girl happy it is building things. I think her wildness survival skills are getting pretty strong.
