We spent the afternoon exploring Maine's Baxter State Park. Our goal was to final another of Maine's second most popular inhabitants, the moose. While we didn't see a moose on this trip, we did enjoy a beautiful hike along Sandy Stream Pond, and the majestic views of Mt. Katahdin. We found a couple of large beaver dams and enjoyed the cool Fall air.
With the many bogs throughout Maine there is no shortage of beautiful hikes, many of which include fun balancing acts along their protective board walks. If you are up for a real adventure the official Northern end to the Appalachian Trail is located at the peak of Mt. Katahdin.
