We love visiting animal preserves, wildlife parks, aquariums and zoos everywhere we go, and the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans didn't disappoint.
The grounds of the Audubon Zoo are immaculate and the habitats are beautiful. They host a wide range of species from all over the world. The zoo is also large enough that on a very busy day it still feels quiet and uncrowded.
Meeting and learning about the incredible animal species of the world in their varying habitats is amazing, but nothing beats a good petting area with friendly sheep and goats. We also discovered Darci's love for birds in their large aviary. After a recent visit to the butterfly gardens where she had many butterflies land on her, she was very disappointed that her patience didn't work as well for the birds.
The Audubon Zoo also has many areas for kids to climb, slide, and explore in play areas, as well as a large number of life size sculptures to visit with. Until they can hug or sit on a real lion, this will have to do.
